Wynyard Walk opened in September 2016, allowing pedestrians to access Barangaroo from Wynyard station, saving a total of 9 mins from the old route. The 180-meter tunnel provides an accessible journey for all making the process available for those with a disability, the elderly and people with strollers from Wynyard station to Barangaroo, now open 24 hours a day. The tunnel features a 23 meter wide curved LED screen, showcasing digital artwork from various Australia’s leading artists, making this a first for NSW transport. Designed by Woods Bagot Architects set out to create an experience, to create a civic presence that is a socially sustainable piece of infrastructure for Sydney. The tunnel itself can hold up to 20,00 pedestrian movements an hour, making this walkway the main artery between Barangaroo and the transport at Wynyard until the new metro station is built at Barangaroo.

The Wynyard Barangaroo Walk features the RBA’s Accessible Drinking Fountain (RBA8900-429). Making sure all users can access and use the facilities supplied. RBA’s Drinking Fountain, RBA4900-429, is manufactured out of heavy-gauge, type 304 stainless steel in a satin finish, aiming to create a heavy-duty and robust design. Perfect for high traffic areas where there is potential for misuse or overuse. The unit uses a stainless Steel, Shielded Bubbler, allowing for an easy flow of water to reach the user. With a self-closing, luminance contrast push button designed to match the Accessible code in Australia, AS1428.2-1992, to allow those with disabilities to use the drinking fountain.

RBA8900-429 features an integral splashback with a perforated drain to allow ease of cleaning and provide hygienic purposes. Designed with a smooth radius eliminates sharp corners and the chance to catch yourself on the surfaces, ensuring users safety and comfort. Ensuring this unit is the ideal choice for the Wynyard Barangaroo walk.
