Set to open in 2026, Western Sydney International Airport is poised to become a world-class hub for travel, placing sustainability and community impact at the core of its design. While initial architectural concepts were led by Zaha Hadid Architects (London) and Cox Architecture (NSW, Australia), the final design and construction were executed by Multiplex Multiplex Australia in partnership with Woods Bagot.
Awarded the contract in June 2021, Multiplex undertook the construction of critical infrastructure designed to support up to 10 million passengers annually. This includes the terminal building, integrated transport connections such as the Metro rail station, bus terminals, taxi ranks, and associated road networks.
RBA Group provided a robust, hygienic, user-friendly hydration solution to support high foot traffic and uphold the airport’s sustainability goals. In response, we delivered a custom configuration of the stainless steel RBA2727-233 ‘Enterprise’ Dual Refrigerated Water Cooler, featuring two bubblers for continuous, chilled hydration in busy public areas. It was paired with a bottle filler, developed in close collaboration with designers from RBA and Murdock Manufacturing, to seamlessly reflect Western Sydney Airport’s design vision.
Engineered to deliver up to 30 litres of chilled water per hour, the customised unit ensures travellers have consistent access to fresh drinking water. Key features include:
As Western Sydney International Airport prepares to welcome millions of passengers each year, RBA is proud to contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable travel experience.
